BioBag Now Available for Biosurgical Wound Debridement

BioMonde announced the launch of BioBag, a biosurgical medical device for the debridement of various wounds including pressure ulcersneuropathic ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, and non-healing traumatic or surgical wounds. BioBag is the first contained biosurgical dressing cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

BioBag provides easy application for rapid debridement of non-healing wounds. The first-of-its-kind delivery system allows application like a wound dressing, while providing the speed and precision of biosurgery. BioBag incorporates Larval Therapy, which uses the living larvae of the greenbottle fly Lucilia sericata to physically remove unviable tissue and bacteria from non-healing wounds. The proteolytic enzymes from the larvae break down all the devitalized tissue into a liquid, which is then ingested as nutrition and removed from the wound.
